Folios: 16 lines nasta`liq (21.3x12cm) in black with highlighted words in blue or gold, within ruled frames (23x13.8cm) of orange, light green, gold, red and blue;
Binding: contemporary dark brown leather with gilded central panel of gold filigree medallion and cornerpieces, framed by two rows of cartouches of stamped gold cloud and floral scrolls, and gold filigree; black doublures are painted with a forest-scene filled with hunting horsemen, hounds, falcons, deer, ducks, and a lone musician on the cornerflap (attributed `Abdullah Shirazi; A.Welch 1978 (4) p.78).

Manuscript of Nigaristan (anecdotes about key figures in Islam), composed in 1552 by Ahmad b. Muhammad Ghaffari (d.1567), dated 980H (1573) Shiraz

Folios: 16 lines nasta`liq (21.3x12cm) in black with highlighted words in blue or gold, within ruled frames (23x13.8cm) of orange, light green, gold, red and blue;

- Fol.1v-2r: "Garden party" double frontispiece 1: painting with surrounding gold and blue illumination of double-palmettes: A young enthroned prince oversees a palace banquet, accompanied by a bearded wazir seated beside him. Across the garden on the left, servants bring further trays of food and more guests arrive, while a row of grooms wait with horses beyond the horizon.
- Fol.2v-3r: double frontispiece 2: illuminated cartouche inscribed in blue nasta`liq [2v: "Kitab Nigaristan"] + illuminated gold medallion inscribed in white nasta`liq + illuminated cartouche inscribed in blue [2v: "Qadi Ahmad Ghaffari al-Qazwini"] all within ruled panel filled with gold and blue illumination of floral scrolls and pale pink, yellow and white cloud-bands and blue and red lotuses; with similar surrounding illumination;
