All books and periodicals printed before 1850.
Scarce and difficult-to-replace material printed from 1850 to date including:
special collections,
books of Irish interest, especially literary first editions,
books printed in limited editions or by private presses,
some 19th and 20th century newspapers and periodicals
Holdings may be read only in the Early Printed Books Reading Room which is reserved for readers using this material. Special guidelines are in force for handling material in the Reading Room, which includes the use of pencils only. Books from other reading rooms may only be transferred with special permission.
