Exhibition from 21st-25th November 2006, organized by Deptt. of Archives, Punjab, in collaboration with Deptt. of Fine Arts.

Scope content :

This exhibition contains :
-paintings and prints of the 19th century belonging to Maharaja Ranjit Singh, Indian Mutiny, Maharajas of the Princely States in Punjab, Anglo-Sikh wars, day to day life of the Punjabis, etc.
- books : The Punjab Archives have a rich collection of books which goes back to the 18th century. The books are mainly on the history of India and the Punjab. There printed Government Reports, Gazetteers, Assembly Debates, Speeches, Census Reports and a large number of Newspapers.
- records volumes : Khalsa Durbar Records of Maharaja Ranjit Singh are in bound volumes. These are the best ever created and preserved records on the lines of the Great Mughals. All these records are in Persian.
- gazettes : Punjab Governement gazettes from 18575 to date and Government of India Gazettes from 1879 to 1947 is another precious collection which contains valuable notifications of British period.
- manuscripts : beautiffully illustrated manuscripts, in the custody of Archives, throw light on the Mughal History, History of Sikh Kingdom, History of the Sikhs and Sikh Gurus and on Punjabi / Hindi Literature. Most of the manuscripts are in Persian, Urdu, Arabic, Punjabi, Hindi, Tibetan.
- records files : Punjab Archives have a major collection of record files belonging to 8 Princely States of the Punjab i. e. Patiala, Nabha, Jind, Kalsia, Nalagarh, Malerkotla, Faridkot and Kapurthala, from 1708 to 1947. Records of the British Punjab also form a major part of Archives from 1803 to 1959.
